Drop a needle anywhere on “Can’t Get Enough” and prepare to get happy. The new single from Alexander Flood’s forthcoming Artifactual Rhythm LP features a bright and brassy vocal from Vivian Sessoms and the vibe of a late night rewind in the cozy confines of New York City’s Sound Factory Bar. Up front: this is one of the best driving house music tracks of the month, and it’s early but probably of the year. It uses a patented formula — nodding beats, rolling chords and that big vocal hook — but with a freshness that’s hard to beat and an earnestness that is impossible to fake.

So I had to find out who the hell made this and how Atjazz snatched them up for an album that sounds like it’s gonna be huge. Alexander Flood is a drummer by trade, leading his own band from the riser. He dropped a 40 minute percussion album called Heartbeat in 2020 that is really extraordinary. He’s from Australia, and if this is the kinda thing he makes after just a couple of years then I think he’s got an extraordinary future ahead. Remember this name.
