Only Fans: X-Press 2 continue their 2024 remix hot streak

X-Press 2 are having a stellar year for remixes: their take on David Holmes featuring Violet’s “Yeah x 3,” JIM’s “Phoenix,” and a serious GABRIELS’ dub all from the last few months have without exception been top-notch no-prisoners serious dance floor gear, and this is just the same. The main remix is a fat, bass-heavy vocal track that rumbles on brilliantly for nine and a half minutes, all based around a simple, perfectly formed six-note riff, first played by the bass, then by, I don’t know, some synths or keys or whatever, and it’s one of those tunes where the bass line becomes the main hook. Then Rocky and Diesel simply build the tension and increase the pressure while Joseph Malik delivers his soulful thing on top.

Honestly, just when I’ve sat through thirty “deep house” promos, each of them with nice neat Rhodes chords, a perfectly EQ’ed shaker loop, and a complete lack of passion and I think I’m going to become the colour beige if I hear one more, something like this comes along and makes everything alright again.

Comes under the category “can’t wait to play it out.”
