This is a six-track remix package of London DJ/producer/animator/architect Chog Burley, AKA Void Complet’s three-track My Idea of Fun EP and apologies to all concerned but I only like the three remixes of his “d’Acid” track. The original was a sprightly, springy 303-er; LDLDN’s Darkness Mix really beefs it up, putting more fat on the low end and rounding out the drums nicely, while the Slow Assembly (Bristol’s Jan Warner) Remix cuts up the kick drum, representing the track as a funky, dark, acid-electro jam, which he then covers in FX and synths, and includes a nicely outré breakdown too.

Burley then also turns in his own remix of his own tune, tightening up the dance floor dynamics, giving it some heft and weight, creating a clean-yet-murky groove for his fat acid line to unfold on, to which he then adds a pair of gently unfurling fluffy pad chords.

So you get three excellent versions of the same acid track, and all of them work in their own way. Then you also get a deconstructed dub of “Picture This” from Northworks, a Baile funk-inspired remix from Kassian that comes with a massive wub-wub bass, and a distorted discordant remix from ZOiD which according to the promo blurb is free-form electro-jazz that I couldn’t really get on board with at all.
