We are thrilled to learn that DJ Rocca from Italy is safe – and moreover that he’s recorded a new mix for #StayHomeDisco.
We last spoke with DJ Rocca last June in anticipation of his album ISOLE and the EP Works featuring the amazing “Ero Disco Theme” with Dimitri from Paris. For those who know, DJ Rocca is an absolute force in electronic music, always conjuring up something surprising and inspiring. He started to produce music in the late 1990s working on some drum&bass and breakbeat singles as Maffia Soundsystem from the same name club in Italy (repping in the photo above). His music has appeared on what we’ve called “a kind of gold standard for modern dance music,” including Compost, Rekids, Futureboogie, !K7, Gomma, Hell Yeah, Slow Motion, Paper Recordings, Sonar Kollektiv, Classic, Skint, Defected, Gomma and more.
DJ Rocca made this mix on Friday, which makes it most likely our first true Quarantine mix. His latest release is Ever Changing Bubbles with Leo Almunia (Deep88 Remixes) which you can pre-order on wax here from Claremont 56; and “Da Lion Groove” on Samosa Records’ Funk Purpose Vol 3 Part 2.
