As we reported yesterday, news is rife that React’s Spring Awakening Festival might be forced to move from its home at Soldier Field to Jackson Park – site of the Chosen Few Picnic in July.

Today React (part of SFX Entertainment, which filed for bankruptcy earlier this week) announced that the story is true, and officially launched the fifth annual Spring Awakening Music Festival at its new home.

Spring Awakening will take place this June 10th through June 12th 2016 in Jackson Park on the city’s South Side.

“Over the past year we’ve explored potential venues that have bigger footprints, and with 500+ acres of lakefront greenery, Jackson Park turned out to be a prime location,” Jeff Callahan, founder of Spring Awakening, said in a release.

React also announced that the festival will have a total of six stages along with “interactive art installations, firework displays, and carnival rides including a ferris wheel in honor of the world’s first ferris wheel that was built on these same grounds for the monumental World’s Fair in 1893.”

Tickets are now available at springawakeningfestival.com.

  1. This is actually a good move for the organizers. Soldier Field wasn’t really a good spot for this type of event where you will have thousands of dancers. With Jackson Park you have more space to move around.
