Thirty eight days away, the 5th annual Spring Awakening Festival pops off in the city of Chicago courtesy of promoter React Presents and the collective support of tens of thousands.
This year’s Spring Awakening has been… uh… “well traveled,” you could say. After news broke that the usual Soldier Field location was not in the cards, it was leaked that Spring Awakening would take place in Jackson Park on the Southside of Chicago (better known to househeads as the preferred location for the Chosen Few Picnic for the last several years).
After that location went to pot, it appears that the scaffolding is being erect and the soundsystem unloaded at Spring Awakening’s new home: Addams/Medill Park, a park in Chicago’s University Village/Little Italy neighborhood (1301 W. 14th St. to be exact), this June 10 through June 12 2016.
This year’s festival also boasts six branded stages. Among the headliners that the person reading this would probably give two flips about, you’ll probably want to see Claude VonStroke’s “The Birdhouse” stage (Nicole Moudaber, Simian Mobile Disco [DJ set], Danny Daze and Catz ‘N Dogs), the “All Gone Pete Tong” stage (Maya Jane Coles, Green Velvet, namesake Pete Tong, Moon Boots and Golf Clap), the “Body Language” stage (for your laidback playlist featuring The Magician, Claptone, Autograf and Darius) and selected DJs/performers Jamie XX, Flying Lotus, Kakade, Ron Carroll, Redux, The Trap House, Porn & Chicken, ATrak and more.
