Mark Farina takes the turntables about, oh, 11 or 12 hours from now, playing an ultra-rare Mushroom Jazz set at The Mid tonight (RSVP here). Colette, Mark Grant and other DJs will be there too, you should check it out.
In respect to that chill hip-hop and downtempo sound, here’s more than 11 hours of Mushroom Jazz (and proto-Mushroom Jazz) from a playlist we came across on SoundCloud, entirely mixes posted by Mark, mostly from cassette tapes. You can actually press play here, walk away, and when the tunes run out, head downtown just in time.
