Om Records released two records last year, both from King Kooba, but the pace will accelerate in 2026 as the label prepares to celebrate their 30th anniversary.

It’s hard to describe what Om and its lotus flower logo meant twenty or thirty years ago — they released some of the best artist albums in house music, their mixes bumped from stereos on main drags from LA to Ibiza. It was tastemaking on a global scale: whoever had a record on Om would probably get a boost up from mid-roster to headliner within a matter of months, burnished by the label’s overheated marketing and sense of style. It was cool shit.

Many of the artists cool’hunted by Om A&R back in the ’00s are still strongly identified with the label — DJ Heather, Miguel Migs and of course Mark Farina. Colette is no exception. She might actually be considered the voice of classic Om if there can be one. “The Sunshine” finds her in top form.

Produced by Richard Earnshaw and Kenny Summit, “The Sunshine” is pure candy-coated house, lowkey hands-in-the-air music, bright and sunny as the name and lyrics imply. Colette’s vocals are right-in-pocket here. “The Sunshine” is one of the best singles of Colette’s career, and I say that having full knowledge of how many great tracks she’s released before this.

This is apparently “single three from the forthcoming Om Records: 30 Years LP.” Whether you get the main product, “The Sunshine” belongs in your bag.
