At the time of writing the 2024 Grammy Award ceremony has just begun their live telecast but all of the winners in the best dance music / electronic music categories have already been announced.

For Best Dance / Electronic Recording, “Rumble” by Skrillex, Fred again.. and Flowdan was the winner over Aphex Twin (“Blackbox Life Recorder 21F”), James Blake (“Loading”), Disclosure (“Higher Than Ever Before“) (honestly not even the third best recording on that album) and “Romy & Fred again..’s “Strong.”

The Grammy for Best Remixed Recording went to Wet Leg’s remix of Depeche Mode’s “Wagging Tongue.” Nominees included Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs’ remix of Lane 8’s “Reviver,” Dom Dolla’s remix of Gorillaz featuring Tame Impala & Bootie Brown’s “New Gold,” Mariah Carey’s “Workin’ Hard” (Terry Hunter remix) and “Alien Love Call” (Turnstile & BADBADNOTGOOD featuring Blood Orange.)

Best Dance / Electronic Music Album went to Actual Life 3 from Fred again.. Nominees included James Blake (Playing Robots Into Heaven), The Chemical Brothers (For That Beautiful Feeling), Kx5’s self titled album and Quest For Fire by Skrillex.

Best Pop Dance Recording is a new category which, as we noted, seems designed to get David Guetta as many nominations as possible. He had two in the category, but lost to the indomitable Kylie Minogue’s “Padam Padam.”

And while it’s not danceable, congrats to Michelle Obama whose The Light We Carry: Overcoming In Uncertain Times won the Grammy Award for Best Audio Book, Narration and Storytelling Recording.
