House music star Erick Morillo was arrested on Thursday following an eight month investigation after being accused of rape by a fellow DJ at his home in Miami Beach.

Morillo was taken into custody following a sample of DNA he provided to detectives matching that retrieved from the victim from a rape kit.

The victim called 911 on December 7 and told police she had been raped at Morillo’s home following a show they both played at on Star Island, according to Christian De La Rosa of Miami broadcaster Local 10:

According to the arrest report, the victim told detectives that Morillo “made several advances towards her, some sexual in nature, but she refused all of his attempts.” She told police she was intoxicated and later found a room inside the home to sleep by herself. She “reported waking up nude on the bed, with Mr. Morillo standing on the side of the bed also nude,” according to the arrest report.

 

After leaving his home and calling police, the victim was taken to a rape-treatment center for evaluation. A rape kit tested positive for Morillo’s DNA, after which police arrested him.

Miami New Times reports that Morillo gave a statement to police in which he denied raping or having sex with the woman.
