After weeks of teasing with hashtags and blurbs, Technics today announced the launch of the Technics SP-10R High-End Direct Drive Turntable and Technics SL-1000R Direct Drive Turntable. Based upon earlier direct drive models, the new models are designed for audiophiles to eliminate quality degradation from belt-drive and idler drives motors and processes.

This is no retreat from the new Technics SL-1200 Series, as the company is also hosting an incredible celebration of the DJ’s preferred turntable at Club Hyde at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas tonight. “Technics7th” features DJs Kenny Dope, Derrick May, Cut Chemist and DJ Koco aka Shimokita and will “focus on the SL-1200 Series with performances by globally renowned DJs who are also fans of the legendary series.”

The event will be broadcast live tonight on Boiler Room and Dommune or watch it live starting at 11pm Eastern/10pm Central/8pm Pacific here:
