It has been 16 years since Chicago’s then-mayor Richard M. Daley proclaimed August 25, 2004 as “Frankie Knuckles Day” in the city where house music was born.

The Frankie Knuckles Foundation has been tireless in continuing the tradition of Frankie Knuckles Day in memory of Frankie’s passing and a celebration of his life and influence on dance music worldwide.

This year, several of Frankie’s friends and admirers are gathering to celebrate Frankie Knuckles Day with a virtual stream going all day long.

Starting at noon on August 25, 2020, the Frankie Knuckles Day stream will broadcast live from Nocturne Chicago on Twitch, YouTube and at nocturne-chicago.com. The line-up includes DJ sets from:

Plus special performances from Emmy, Grammy and Tony Award winner Billy Porter and the House Gospel Music Choir of London, plus testimonials and lore from Frankie Knuckles’ friends and colleagues.

The celebration will be hosted by Frederick Dunson of the Frankie Knuckles Foundation and 5 Mag’s Czarina Mirani.
