It was inevitable that Coflo would wind up on Local Talk. The Swedish label has snatched up releases and remixes from some of the most vibrant producers with a soulful bent – Anthony Nicholson and Mark de Clive-Lowe, Opolopo, Alton Miller, and Brotherman in the last year alone.
Comes now Cody Ferreira, a dancer turned hot production wiz named Coflo, with the spikey soul of Lux. Imagine if you will Manhattan Transfer got into Daft Punk’s vocoder collection backed by twinkling keys and fat-fingered synth melodies and you have a very basic idea of where this is going. I love organ jams in my tracks and the early one at 2:00 in Coflo’s Extended Mix is choice:
The remixes are choice too, with Kaidi Tatham delivering a hustling uptempo edit and dub. Hot record and it was slipped out the door in late April.
