The original of “Money” was from Cody Currie’s 2022 Toy Tonics album Lucas. In its raw form, it’s a Rhodes-heavy, organic, soulful groove with some nice vocals from Andreas Kon. It’s a pleasant little jam, its neat descending chord progression just a little too beige for my taste, but UK broken beat don Kaidi Tatham’s remix does a superb job of bringing out the very best in the vocal.

It sounds very much like he’s basically created a new Kaidi Tatham track, crafting a gloriously fluid bass that almost makes this worth investing in on its own, a soaring horn line, bubbling percussion, some signature Tatham clav/synth touches, a scattering of smooth synth strings, and a general vibe of utterly accomplished soulful funk. Then just when you think it’s done he drops a completely different change of direction with a wicked, jazzy, full-on broken beat coda. Its production touches like this, along with, it has to be said, many other serious skillz, that give Tatham’s productions such class.
