Paul Shapiro flute whistle song

Paul Shapiro is a flutist best known in these parts for his appearance on tape in Frankie Knuckles‘ “The Whistle Song” (and last seen in the video for it, in which Shapiro played with a live parrot perched on his flute).

Shapiro has now contributed a breathtaking performance evocative of the first on a new mix of Italian deep house producer Deep88‘s track “Harmony.” Listen Up:

Paul Shapiro is a mainstay in the New York jazz scene, and has appeared on records from Michael Jackson, Jay-Z and David Byrne. His performance on “Harmony” is, we think, pretty magical.

“Harmony” backed with “Te Quiero” will be out sometime around June on vinyl.
