Soulful house isn’t hard to come by, but tracks like these are a diamond in the rough. I’ve never heard of Izzy La Vague but I know Nylon Trax and three mixes on this EP are sterling. The Reprise Mix is floaty, atmospheric, abstract in a way that often falls flat when you’re working with soul. Leandro P.’s two remixes here are the choice cuts: smooth, grooving without being a bore, and a case study in how to say so much without wedging in a thousand effects for the sake of “doing something”: just a beautiful piano, steady base and percussion that slowly evolves. What more does a song need?
