Kool Vibe’s last four records have been called House Trax, The Black & White Project (parts 1 and 2) and now Basics. You may notice a pattern emerging, aside from the gorgeous chords and volcanic vocal eruptions from one of the best Deep House producers in the world today.

With a steady hand, Kool Vibe strips away everything supercilious and stylistically unnecessary. What emerges are tracks that seem battle tested but gorgeous beneath their scabs and scars. The title cut and “Tribute” are spectacular Garagey tracks; the latter in particular is mindblowing with dynamic and almost breathless cut-up samples. “Back To The Real” is where it’s at for me: fat organ chords and sharp, sharp hats.

Out: Out in April; pre-order from Juno.
