Malestrom Expression Directe album artwork

Good electro should always sound at least a little bit evil. Cultivated Electronics delivers an EP of electro cool to the touch by Maelstrom. Expression Directe features four tracks of dark but wondrous vibes — a strong shot of somethin’ you know is no good for you but you drink it up anyway.

“TBX72” is the apex predator here, erupting with stuttering beats and a bassline that sounds like it was ripped out of a time machine. Through it all is a hump of funk that keeps bouncing up out of the afterburn. “Squawk” brings the acid right to the top of the mix, and acid electro is always going to be the best electro.

This is out of stock in a lot of places but there are still some copies at Clone.nl.
