This is too relentlessly upbeat for the ideal lockdown loneliness playlist but the spirit is lingering. Tortured Soul teams up with Lisa Shaw with this charmingly intimate follow-up to the megalithic 10 track remix pack of their track with N’Dea Davenport, “I Might Do Something Wrong.” On “I Wish You Were Here,” Tortured Soul offers up an invigorating shot of soul, with the interplay between singers leading to John-Christian Urich’s vocals scaling to unprecedented heights. It compares favorably to Tortured Soul’s exquisite catalog in terms of songwriting and these polished hooks have never shined brighter than they do here.
