Chicago, send the kids to the fam and call in sick for a week, because the city hasn’t seen a powerhouse event of Chicago House Music’s original pioneers in a long, long time. And probably won’t again!
What we think is the final line-up is in place for an event being billed as “The Kings and Queens of House Music” (as well Byron Stingily’s 50th birthday bash), and it’s coming Saturday, May 30 2015 at Chicago’s House of Blues (329 N Dearborn St.).
Headlining the show is a special reunion for Chicago’s Ten City, performing live, along with live performances by vocalists Martha Wash and CeCe Peniston.
As far as DJs go, how about Jellybean Benitez, Steve “Silk” Hurley, Farley Jackmaster Funk, Mike “Hitman” Wilson, Alan King, Wayne Williams, Mike Dunn and Terry Hunter and Ten City’s Byron Burke?
Tickets are now on sale via livenation.com and for less at Chicago’s Home of Chicken & Waffles at 543 Madison Street in Oak Park and 3947 S. King Drive in Chicago; for more info see houseofblues.com.
