Miguel Migs has been an “acclaimed” artist for nearly as long as there’s been anyone talking about House Music. He gets significantly less credit for Salted Music – a label that began as a personal vehicle in the first flush of digital music (founded in 2004, the same year as Beatport) to one of the best, most consistently supervised outlet for quality dance floor music.

Their latest release features frequently flyer Deeplomatik (Salted is more about developing relationships than acquiring songs), whose four track Dub Drop EP is a lush, gorgeous slice of Deep House, glistening with garage-y hats and ’90s-style dubbed out vocals. Most of us take labels like this for granted; tracks like this (and Migs’ last collaboration with Lisa Shaw, “Waterfall,” which we reviewed here) are reminders why you should not.

Dub Drop is out now on Traxsource, worldwide on June 16 and that’s the same day Miguel Migs makes his next appearance in Chicago – this Friday at Smartbar with our pal Andrew Emil and Tamahori. Tickets are available here.
