Greg Kot in the Chicago Tribune reports today that a trio of promoters including dance music mainstays React Presents and Silver Wrapper have teamed up to open a new 1,600 capacity music club.
The Concord Music Hall is located at 2047 N. Milwaukee Avenue, the site of the former “VLive” club. React and Silver Wrapper are being joined by the founders of Riot Fest; opening night is August 1, 2013 and features Adam Ant.
Rival promoters said the new venue is likely to exploit its deep ties to the fast-rising electronic-music scene. In addition, Riot Fest recently scored a coup by booking the Replacements to play the band’s first shows in 20 years, beating out deep-pocketed promoters such as Golden Voice at Coachella and C3 Presents at Lollapalooza. Riot Fest, Silver Wrapper and React Presents all previously booked shows at the Congress Theatre, 2135 N. Milwaukee Ave., but the theater’s owner, Eddie Carranza, is facing legal difficulties and has indicated he intends to lease the venue.
Kot has the line-up, heavy at the moment on September and Riot Fest after party dates.

(Incidentally, you should probably not visit the old VLive site, as it’s been domain hijacked by someone selling dick pills.)
