The war of the superstars is on…and this time it’s between Kanye West (infamous for his shameless sampling of major records) and New York maestro producer David Morales.
In Facebook and Instagram posts, David calls out the new hit song “I Love It” featuring Kanye West and Lil Pump as directly stealing his bassline from a 25 year old remix he did for Alexander O’Neal song called “What Is This Thing Called Love.” Although there were other producers of said track, DJ Clark Kent, CBMix and Ronny J, you would think Kanye would attempt to clear the sample. 3 years ago he debuted the clearly influenced House song “Fade” which contained samples from Mr. Fingers’ “Can You Feel It” and Harddrive’s “Deep Inside”…and we’re pretty sure those were cleared.
“I’m getting all these messages about how he sampled my bassline” David says, “and if anybody’s doubting what I’m talking about check this out.”
You be the judge.
