In response to the music industry shutdown in the wake of the coronavirus lockdown, SoundCloud has unveiled a number of initiatives to help creators with monetization.
First and foremost, SoundCloud has partnered with popular livestreaming platform Twitch to “fast-track” SoundCloud creators “directly to Twitch Affiliate status so you can start earning money from your Twitch streams, instantly.” The program is open to SoundCloud Pro, SoundCloud Premiere and Repost by SoundCloud creators.
According to SoundCloud:
1. All SoundCloud Pro, SoundCloud Premier and Repost by SoundCloud artists can sign up for an account at twitch.tv.
2. After creating an account on Twitch, contact SoundCloud here and Twitch will “fast-track” the new channel to Affiliate status, enabling monetization after confirmation by Twitch “within a matter of days.”
3. Visit Twitch Music’s Getting Started Guide to check their technical requirements and get started.
The company has also announced that today through March 30 SoundCloud is offering a 50% discount on its SoundCloud Pro Unlimited plans. Pro Unlimited plans are eligible for monetization of uploads. The 50% discount knocks the price down to $6/month when billed yearly or $8/month billed on a monthly basis.
