I was scanning Facebook when I came across this post from React’s Martin Godinez:

“Again friends/family please donate whatever you can & share this post! I know over these past years I’ve booked, guest-listed, walked you in, took you out of line, gave you drink tickets and helped you out in some way or another. So this time I’m asking you as a friend & family member to please donate what you can. It’s for a great cause and you can all laughing knowing I will be freezing my little tuchus off!”

This reminded me of how so many of us forget the little things that people do for us. And how easy it is for us to simply take a few minutes to donate to a good cause with the stroke of a few keys?

React Presents is Chicago’s ubiquitous promotional company for all things electronic music. They not only produce events at The Mid, Concord Music Hall and Prysm Nightclub in Chicago, but are also responsible for massive Midwest festivals such as Spring Awakening, North Coast Music Festival and Mamby on the Beach.

React and Mamby on the Beach Festival have joined hands to raise money and awareness for Bright Star Community Outreach. An organization that they have worked with in the past, it’s a nonprofit group dedicated to strengthening vulnerable families & communities. Based in the Bronzeville area of Chicago, they assist low income families and address issues such as violence against women and children, drug abuse, homelessness and home stability.

The goal of the Mamby Plunge is to raise $10,000 by this Saturday March 11th. If reached, Mamby staff members Martin Godinez (Marketing Manager/Talent Buyer), Alan Brant (Social Media Manager), Zach Partin (Talent Buyer), Pat Grumley (Marketing Director), Dom Brown (Festival Marketing/Experiential), Ashley Egly (Festival Director) and Yolie Carrera (Yoga Instructor) will all brave the freezing waters of Lake Michigan by the festival home of Mamby at Oakwood Beach on Saturday, March 11th at 2pm CST.

As an added incentive, anyone who donates to the cause will be entered to win a 4-pack of tickets to this year’s Mamby.

It’s a brilliant idea, a great way to support the Chicago community , and who doesn’t want to see some of Chicago’s party elite freeze their asses off on Lake Michigan? 🙂
