Dave Angel Original Man reissue album art

Every time there’s a big reissue there’s always that one motherfucker in the back who has to say it — that “It sounds so good, I could even play this today!” That is, I think, the point of releasing a record: so people can play it. Today.

So here is a record from back in the day that you really, really can play today. Could. Should. Dave Angel‘s “Original Man” was the first release on Aura Surround Sounds and that sure was an incredible way to make a first impression. This is techno that could be performed by a symphony orchestra, fanning percussion and synths that stir your soul. The flipside of the original and the reissue features “Quarter Pounder,” a far more hectic track that races like amphetamine salts chasing a stray benzo through the bloodstream.

The reissue also includes a bonus track, “4th Symphony” from 1993’s New Orchestrations, but that is only included on the vinyl.

Dave Angel: Original Man (Something Happening Somewhere / 12″ Vinyl + Digital)

2. Dave Angel: Quarter Pounder (06:02)
