A new band emerges every few years and captivates the house music scene with a sound that’s a little familiar but has a lot of what nobody knew they were looking for. ASHRR, an LA-based band with a versatile sound, might be the next in line.

Signed to Ralph Lawson’s 20/20 Vision Recordings, ASHRR is aiming one directly at the house scene with this remix pack. It features four remixes of “Please Don’t Stop The Rain,” the glittering indie soul anthem that lead off ASHRR’s 2024 album Sunshine Low. Ron Trent handles the A side mixes, and all the sliders tick upward on his spacey first pass — claps, lasers, dramatic synth stabs and vocals that uplift you like a disco space shuttle ride. Ron also contributes a downtempo boogie dub that radiates brightness and oozes cool by the pint.

The B side mixes are by ASHRR as “ASHRR Soundsystem” which are more uptempo, with a rubbery bassline and big bouncy chords. This is sunny, summery music that will outlast winter’s last gasp.
