Lay-Far has been hard to pin down and the Russian electronic producer’s sound has likewise run amok. On Same As It Never Was, his EP released in the Fall of 2020 on Lumberjacks In Hell, his spiky breakbeat driven sound “flowed in a gradient from deep and jazzy vibes to something vaguely ravey.”
This time it’s extremely ravey, but he’s working on a more cosmic plane. Soulful Encounters of the 3rd Kind was released on December 11th by London record label High Praise and features four tracks from a lost midsommar with sharp groves that lop off heads and dance cheerfully around them. One rotation round on the lead track “Pick It Keep It” and maybe you’ll see what I mean.
