Lovely eight track collection of Marcel Vogel‘s Lumberjacks in Hell label featuring a mix of new and reworked material. If L.I.H. have a label sound then you’d place it somewhere in a musical triangulation with Chicago house in one corner, soulful house in another, and disco in another, a mix of influences that’s been very successful for the label over the years, resulting in many forward thinking and fresh sounding vocal tracks.

On the smoother side of things you get JT Donaldson featuring Rami with their smooth “Let Me Show You,” a filter-disco track that’s gentle and sophisticated rather than full-pelt and maximum impact, Sophie Lloyd and Andre Espeut’s organ-led uplifting “Our Day,” and Vogel and Seanmont’s dreamy, chimey “Hard Times.” Slightly tougher, more driving workouts are provided via Luke Solomon and Chris Penny’s jacking rubberfunk rework of Goshawk and Greg Blackmans’ “Ain’t Gonna” and JKriv’s rolling, piano banging remix of Jerkboy, Marcel Vogel and Million Miles’ “Real Love.” Excellent quality all round.
