It’s a new record from Danny Berman aka Red Rack’em, and those of you looking for a literal successor to his “Wonky Bassline Disco Banger” or “Wonky Techno Banger” will need a new bingo card. Overthinking 01 leads off with “Train of Thought,” a (fittingly) sprawling, 10 minute collision of dreamy synths, pillowing percussion and spacey, stretched out vocals. This is less of a “build up” than a slow leak — you find yourself entranced by the rhythm before you realize you’re up to your neck in this one. As Harold Heath pointed out in his interview with Danny for 5 Mag awhile back, “off-kilter” is a term that almost everyone reaches for when describing Red Rack’em’s music — things never work out how you expect except when you expect that they won’t.

Red Rack’em: Overthinking 01 (Bergerac / June 29 2021 / 12″ Vinyl)
1. Red Rack’em: Train Of Thought (10:14)
2. Red Rack’em: New August (06:14)
