We’re very pleased to announce the launch of the Slap Jaxx Podcast, a new Techno mix series curated by Angel Alanis exclusively for 5 Magazine.
Slap Jaxx is the name of one of the prolific Mr. Alanis’ labels, and through the Slap Jaxx Podcast we hope to shine a light on a diverse stream of Techno DJs and producers with a focus right here on Chicago and the Midwest.
We’re leading off with an exclusive set from Chicago’s own DJ Qbot.

For over a decade, DJ Qbot has been rattling floorboards around Chicago and the greater US. Drawing from her industrial past and an impressive record collection, she was a frequent guest DJs at major Chicago clubs like Primary, Smart Bar, and Neo, as well as hosts a weekly electronic-focused radio show, Destination Unknown. Her robotic rhythms have warmed up the booth for Chris Liebing, Ben Klock, Dan Bell, and Kyle Geiger, to name a few.
Most recently, Qbot has been on the bill in her new home New York City at Erratic, as well as a Perc Trax showcase in Chicago, and the legendary club Tresor in Berlin. She has upcoming releases on several labels including Slap Jaxx and PatSeq.
