House Music’s souled-up Woodstock just got a little more intense. The Chosen Few Picnic has announced their official line-up and performers for this year’s 2016 event – and also dropped the news that the festival is expanding to become a full-on, two day music festival.

First things first: This year’s Chosen Few Picnic is now being rebranded as the Chosen Few DJs Music Festival and is taking place on July 2 and 3, 2016 in the usual location – Jackson Park on the city of Chicago’s southside.

The first day will encompass the festival’s traditional “picnic format” on Saturday, July 2 2016. Sunday July 3 2016 will consist of a “celebration of soul music.”

“For years, guests have been asking for more music and more time, so we’re delighted to expand into a full-blown festival, celebrating so much of what’s great about our city,” says Wayne Williams, founder, The Chosen Few DJs, in a release. “Nothing is more Chicago than house music, and we’re excited to showcase this homegrown sound all across the city, from Daley Plaza to Jackson Park to the home of our world champion baseball team, the White Sox.”

Day One of the festival features DJ sets by the Chosen Few DJs (Wayne Williams, Jesse Saunders, Tony Hatchett, Alan King, Andre Hatchett, Terry Hunter and Mike Dunn), along with special guests Joe Claussell, Bobby & Steve, Dee Jay Alicia, DjTonyT and vocalists Monique Bingham, Josh Milan, Harry Dennis and Curtis McClain.

Day Two of the festival will feature the legendary Roy Ayers, Cheryl Lynn, DJ Spinna, Sam Chatman, Mark Flava, gospel House sets by the Chosen Few DJs and “tributes to legendary artists Prince and Maurice White of Earth, Wind & Fire also are planned during the festival.”

Tickets will be available starting May 10 2016 via chosenfewdjs.com.

  1. My heart skipped a few beats when I saw Bobby & Steve on the list. These guys are two of THE BAAAADEST cats in the game. Repping London to the fullest and staying connected to the soul power that comes from Chicago. I have a special tee shirt that I got when I saw them at the WInter Music Conference way back in 2003. I ‘retired’ the shirt but for this one day I will have to bring it out for some air and show my full support. I am so excited about this I cannot reall put my feelings into words…
