A new Midwest festival is staking a claim to your Labor Day Weekend.
It’s the old one — FURTHUR, the original “techno campout, electronic festival and family re*union” and one of the foundational electronic music festivals in North America, which has delivered on a line-up full of Midwest and international techno, house and electronic talent.
A reminder of an era when music festivals were less corporate and more of a participatory experience, the original FURTHUR took place over Memorial Day Weekend in 1994. FURTHUR (named after the Merry Prankster’s bus driven by Neal Cassady that criss-crossed America in 1964) is now taking place Labor Day Weekend, September 4 through September 7 2026. The location and lineup have been announced. Famed for listing its original location as “Somewhere, Wisconsin,” this year’s FURTHUR festival will take place in Jennings Holler in Eagle, Wisconsin, an almost 40 acre property which describes itself as a “one-of-a-kind destination venue in Eagle, Wisconsin, built for music, community, celebration, and unforgettable experiences.”
The site is not nearly as remote as some of the FURTHUR events in the distant past — Jennings Holler in Eagle is less than an hour drive from Milwaukee, a little over an hour from Madison and a 2 hour drive from Chicago.
The lineup is never the full story with FURTHUR. There are few festivals that manage to craft their own personality rather than having one imposed from above, and FURTHUR is one of them. But the lineup as announced breaks down as follows:

The first FURTHUR was one of the first multi-day electronic music festivals in the Midwest and more broadly in North America, launching six years prior to the Detroit Electronic Music Festival. Legendary performances and sets featured headliners Aphex Twin, the Hardkiss Brothers and Daft Punk. The festival is produced by legendary promoters and record label Drop Bass Network from Milwaukee; tickets are available here.
