When truth and legend diverge, print the legend. But sometimes — rarely — they match up precisely. The night that Lil’Louis slapped the acapella of Chuck Roberts‘ immortal “My House” over a little known track from an Italian duo is the origin story of “Equatoriale,” which in large part due to that mix would become the most well-known track in Souldynamic’s already deep and growing (and still growing) catalog. Rarely does a guy — even a really famous guy — playing a track become a legend, but that happened here, after the video went viral in that wholesome pre-2020 way.

The story was notable enough for 5 Mag’s Czarina Mirani to lead with it in our 2018 feature with Souldynamic’s Luca and Stefano.

The 10th anniversary of the original release of “Equatoriale” is a vinyl-only affair, featuring shined up copies of the original mix, instrumental and a pair of new tracks on the flip. The 2026 edit of the main track in question is neither light- nor heavy-handed, maintaining that lovely build that evokes the vibe of a band tuning up and, at 3:00, a vintage engine turning over. The new tracks on the back are very much of-a-kind with “Equitoriale,” with the big brass eruption and fancy shuffle of “Cidade da Luz” and dreamy, romantic Blue Havana vibes of “Para Voce.” Hugely recommended then and again.
