The TR-6S features what Roland calls “authentic recreations of legendary Roland drum machines” including the 808, 909, 707 and 606. It’s designed primarily with two factors in mind: portability and price.
The footprint of the TR-6S is about as wide as a laptop keyboard — 8 inches wide, by 5 inches in height and with a thickness of just over 2 inches — and weighs less than two pounds.
The price comes in at a manufacturer’s suggested retail of $409.99 — about $200 cheaper than the Roland TR-8S and comparable to many TR-808 clones.
Roland also boasts the TR-6S contains the key to the “gold standard in drum programming” via the TR-REC step sequencer from early Roland drum machines. “The TR-6S employs the same tried-and-true approach, enhanced with realtime recording and modern features like sub-steps for ratcheted parts and motion recording for rhythms that move.”
You can read the complete spec sheet from Roland below.
The TR-6S is available now at dealers for about $400.
