With two all-building takeovers and one of the most anticipated overseas bookings in years, Smartbar and Metro want you to come early and come often this weekend. They’re offering a discounted weekend pass to help.
For their re-opening for the new year, on Friday January 16 Smartbar is welcoming Worldwide FM, Brownswood, Acid Jazz and Talkin’ Loud founder Gilles Peterson with King Hippo and Leja Hazer in a show presented with International Anthem Records.
Saturday sees Soul Clap’s House of EFUNK event take over the whole building with a pretty insane lineup including Louie Vega, Grammy nominated Ron Trent, Soul Clap, Hercules & Love Affair (DJ set), Vitigrrl and Noshaluv.
Sunday is the annual For Frankie! party — the official birthday tribute to Frankie Knuckles and benefiting the Frankie Knuckles Foundation. Another all-building event, For Frankie! features Adeva, Andre Hatchett, Celeste Alexander, Chez Damier, Michael Serafini and Shaun J. Wright, Queen! hosts Lucy Stoole and Nico and guest host Essence and decorations by Boxboy Rich.
