“LJ Hawk” is Husky, one half of Random Soul and a coming force as a solo artist in his own right. I’m not sure of the relevance of the new moniker other than to clarify his love of all animals but it comes on a solid release from Miguel Migs’ never-off-point Salted Music.
The original mix has a quirky, tropical vibe in the opening chords but opens up like a rose into a wide-striding clubby pop song. Dave Mayer delivers a dubby version that stands out the most, and Husky (back as “Husky”) has one that will be familiar to fans of his solo work on Bobbin’ and Nervous.
Overall a nice cut and in promo release on Traxsource until the end of June.
