It just has to be said up-front: Moon Boots woke up one day and decided to make a Soulful House track and it’s one of the best of the year.
The original mix of “Tear My Heart” sent a shockwave through people when it debuted in February – there are characteristic flares and bright, colorful tones throughout but the vocal by Lulu James is gorgeous, the arrangement is flawless and Moon Boots’ production absolutely sparkles. This is just the sort of infusion of energy that’s badly needed in the world right now, and on dancefloors in particular.
The first single from Moon Boots’ forthcoming album made enough waves, but the remix from Marquis Hawkes that debuted this week is even more wonderful – deep, toying ever so slightly with the arrangement and doubling down on soul.
