Ralf Gum Dubs for the Clubs vol 1 album artwork

Ralf GUM has staked a fair part of his reputation on his acumen for songwriting — the vocal tracks that make his albums among the few in soulful house that really feel like historical landmarks in the scene.

Lest anyone forget how he got here, he’s released this first volume called Dubs for the Clubs and the title is self-explanatory. “Stomping Dub” may as well be the watchword for all of them — these are addictive tunes, body music in the purest sense and fitting for just about any deep DJ in the world with a gig under his belt. “Groover’s Dub” has a physicality and rough quality that you’ll love too. The irresistibly jazzy “Visitor’s Dub” stands apart here — a frenetic soul jam featuring the notorious Kafele on trumpet.

All good stuff from one of the best we have.
