“Most of the things that got big were the ones I did really quickly.” Todd Edwards‘ remixes of St. Germain’s “Alabama Blues” was no exception: done quickly, it became a smash and one of three that broke Todd worldwide (the other two being “As I Am” and “Saved My Life”). The story is that Todd was listening to DJ Disciple’s radio show in New York and heard a record that gave him a shout out by name, and then a couple of days later he was approached about remixing it. “Alabama Blues” was remixed in one night – something impressive today, astonishing for a producer with a limited kit in 1995.
