Hello! Today we are thrilled to be releasing 5 Magazine #142!
February is for lovers and we’re spending this month with the genre we love more than most. This is part one of a three issue series dedicated solely to the music, artists and influence of UK Garage.
All through February, we’ll be releasing mixes, features and more charting the history and influence of UKG. Future issues include Todd Edwards, Scott Garcia, Scott Diaz and more. As for right now, let’s get down to it:
5 Magazine is published twice per month in our member’s section for 5 Magazine subscribers – join now for only $1/issue!
On The Cover
Czarina Mirani talks to perennial 5 Mag favorite Jeremy Sylvester for the first 5 Mag (UKG) Mix and interviews.
Also In This Issue
Our second UKG mix and interview comes from Marc Cotterell, whose Plastik People has been re-issuing tons of quality, classic UK Garage from the 1990s. Marc also contributed a 5 Mag UKG Mix for this issue.
We’re thrilled to also tap the brains of Alex Lawton, director of the marvelous UKG documentary Rewind 4Ever: A History of UK Garage. Alex breaks down his choices of unsung, unheralded and underrated producers, tracks and UKG labels.
We also have compiled the first of three parts of a compendium of UK Garage classics and rarities we call Strictly The Best.
Our next UKG issue – 5 Mag #143 – will be forthcoming next week.
