These two are at it again. “Love Will Save the World” is much more uptempo and (odd to say) aggressive than “Sunshine Through The Rain,” the last record I reviewed from Andy Compton and vocalist Celestine on Peng. “Love” is a record with some highly infectious grooves, made by a guitar that seizes control early and kicks open the doorway to a mad chorus of brass and a deep, big, big vocal. Celestine sings “Deep in mind, deep in heart, deep in love” on an infinite loop with a big brassy attitude all her own.
There are two mixes and I give a slight preference to the “Guitar Mix” – I’m a sucker for the strum and there’s a jam band feel to this that I imagine taking place every day at all hours in Andy’s studio.
