If Henry Stone’s estate gave Danny Krivit the keys to the TK Disco vault, a razor blade and as much time as he wanted to do what he wanted to do, I think the entire world would be a better sounding place. This is the third short of Danny Krivit’s edits from the TK Disco catalog, following the Mr K TK Records compilation released in Japan this summer.
From the double CD set comes Peter Brown’s “For Your Love” – the slowest and sexiest of sexy slow jams. Krivit places the strings just below the full, lustrous vocal hook. Quite a shift then to Jimmy McGriff’s high octane “Tailgunner” on the flip – a pub crawl anthem for a generation, with a fat organ that became the 1970s’ response to Booker T’s “Green Onions.”
