Sorry, I know that in some circles it’s close to sacrilege to say this but I was never that into Bicep’s “Glue.” Like, it’s cool enough, lovely chords, nice moody feel and all but I never quite got the levels of devotion it received. Maybe I need to hear it while on MDMA in Ibiza holding hands as the sun rises to get the full impact of it.

Anyway, the reason I mention “Glue” is that “Rave Breaks” pretty much takes that Bicep shimmering mournful synth/breakbeat template and does a really good job of it.  It’s got some female vocals that work beautifully with the chords, a stripped-back post-UKG rhythm track and a tight, dance floor-focused arrangement, and the whole thing has anthem potential on the right dance floors.

“Endless,” the second track on the EP is a crisp-sounding, driving tech house track with lots of lovely percussion and some genuine funk along with some nice moody stabs and FX — but it almost feels like an added-on bonus that you get along with the main feature. Anyway, it’s all quality gear.
