Interesting EP of really raw dancefloor tracks here. You get a pair of afterhours lo-fi electro excursions, “East Coast Waves” and “Rising Sun,” the former minimal, almost naive sounding, and the latter a little funkier but with a similar ever-so-slightly-whimsical feel in there. “Put Em On Work” is a sparse, leftfield warehouse workout with a distinctly old school — and I mean late ’80s house old school — feel. “Jackpot” is computer game synth rave-house/dark garage complete with a spooky pitched down vocal sample and overdriven hi hats right at the front of the mix, then there’s “5 Am” which marries marimba type chimes with a scuzzy 12 bit house groove that together all sounds like it could have been made in 1983 by a Japanese prog band who just got a new drum machine. Then among all these underground alt-groovers “Slot Machine Groove” is the standout track, a shimmering deep houser made of little more than drum machine beats, chord chimes, and reverb. Pure, distilled underground house music.
