Tuccillo Frames EP Nu Groove album art

More good stuff from the newly returned Nu Groove this time from Italian long-time house player Tuccillo and his four-track Frames EP. The title track is the one: a superb house track that starts out with the kind of solid house beat and simple square wave that just sound irresistible over a decent system, then he adds a stab/organ riff that’s not a million miles away from Jaydee’s “Plastic Dreams,” some drifty, outré chord washes and a vibey little vocal — and it all works excellently, the switch between the vocal section back to the drum and bass vamp just killer.

Track #3, “You Got Me” works really well for me too, it’s got great beats, nice dirty hi-hats, an understated b-line that’s funkier than its size would suggest, then halfway through he drops a pair of synth-pattern chords and the whole thing takes off in a very restrained and classy way, without ever once losing its cool.

The EP also includes a decent vocal track, the skippy beats and soulful vocals of Ron Carroll on “Don’t Walk Away” while final track “Everything” is a highly swung deep house dub jam that percolates along through a couple of changes and rounds off the EP nicely.
