New Music: Black Loops, Intr0beatz, Petals In Sound & more shine on a V/A compilation from Aterral

This compilation of house from Berlin’s Aterral label is well worth a look, and includes dope deep housers like Intr0beatz‘s “Moments Like This,” a highly playable concoction of soft and moody electric piano chords, mildly warped/mangled vocals samples, neat and tidy shuffling beats, and a restrained square wave b-line, and Black Loops‘ driving, steady, cool, sparkling, and transportive “Electribe Sesh 11.”

The UK’s Petals In Sound (Louise Baldwin) serves up an emo-house adventure with Detroit techno chord hits and a buoyant groove, while Lavan’s “Tonight Dub Mix” is smooth, dreamy, glistening starry, soulful instrumental deepness. “Splendid Zodiac” from label boss Carlo is a lean, trimmed, simple but effective blend of jacking 4/4 beats, rumbling bass and shifting synthetic chords. And stepping away from the mostly mid-120s BPM/swung and skippy beats combo that dominates this comp, “Fun Facts” from Emanuele Barilli is an excellent percussive-heavy chugger. Lots of decent dancefloor tracks to get into here.
