Boyd Jarvis was recently diagnosed with cancer, and we’re throwing our support behind the this fundraising event and tribute being held at Output in New York.

On Thursday October 27 2016, Barbara Tucker and Anthony Malloy host “The Music’s Got Me: A Musical Tribute and Benefit for Boyd Jarvis.” Among the talent on hand are legends Timmy Regisford, Merlin Bobb, Francois K, Joe Claussell and Kevin Hedge with Eli Escobar and Mark Francis.

Jarvis is a pivotal figure in music and especially dance music history, well-known for his productions and remixes that went mainstream, including records from Herbie Hancock, Prince, Madonna and Boy George. He was co-host on WBLS radio with Timmy Regisford and has wracked up an astonishing number of landmark hits through more than three decades in the industry.

Boyd Jarvis will be undergoing radiation therapy, according to the event organizers. They are quick to add that the prognosis for his recovery is “good.”

“The intent was to raises funds to support his aftercare, position him mentally with spiritual and emotion support.”

The Music’s Got Me will take place on Thursday, October 27 2016 at Output in Brooklyn, New York (74 Wythe Ave, doors open at 9pm). Tickets are available here.
