The Round Up Part IV of the best of Detroit Swindle’s Heist circa 2017, mixed by other people from Heist on a double 12″ and digital release. The label does yeoman’s work in giving a spotlight to new producers and giving free rein to the ones that have started to shine.
The insularity begins with Nachtbraker‘s “Hamdi” which has its heavenly orgy chorus stroked by Fouk. Nebraska’s “Big Plate Chicken” is boiled down to its base elements in Alma Negra’s Blacksoul Remix. I think the stand-out track here is still Detroit Swindle‘s “Can’t Hold It.” One of my top tracks of the year and I think the best track they’ve released to date, Nachtbraker decks it out in glimmering synths and a garland of wobbly basslines.
