Silky smooth grooves and a strong vocal set things going in a happy direction on “Start Today,” a new EP from Chicago’s Lee Pearson Jr Collective. Neroli has it on wax and it sounds fantastic — deep house with a soulful bent, in the best tradition of some of Chicago’s best soulful house artists. Alton Miller goes ham on the remix, voices intertwined and soaring higher and higher until you can feel the spirit leap right out. This was out in December on wax and it’s worth it if we still have to import it back home.
